Ash Readying New Album

Ash are nearly finished laying down tracks for the as-yet-untitled follow up to 2004’s Meltdown. The band have already completed 13 songs and have “just a couple more to do and a couple…to redo,” frontman Tim Wheeler said on the band’s official site. “It’s got a really good sound to it,” Wheeler revealed. “There’s a song called ‘Saskia,’ which we wanted to have a cold, East European kind of feel. So we were listening to a lot of the Bowie records that he did with Brian Eno and Tony Visconti. We really like a lot of his drum sounds from that time. And Iggy Pop’s The Idiot, too.”

New York-based Ash fans can see the band live Thursday (Oct. 5) evening when Spin and SoCo host a performance at the Annex on Manhattan’s Lower East Side. The show is free!
