Master P is launching a hip-hop talent search in the spirit of American Idol. America’s Next Hip Hop Stars will pit budding rappers and rap groups against each other on a TV show where they’ll perform their favorite hip-hop songs or original material before a panel of celebrity judges. America will choose the winners, and the grand prize is a recording contract and $50,000. “Hip-hop is the way out for our kids,” Master P. told Yahoo Music, “and this is the way to show the world what our culture is really about.” No network has been announced yet for the show.
