Judge Will Allow Public to See R. Kelly Tape

Despite the requests of the prosecution and the defense in the R. Kelly trial, Chicago Criminal Court Judge Vincent Gaughan has ruled that the public and the media will be allowed to view the tape that allegedly shows the singer having sex with an underage girl who may have been as young as 13 when the video was made. “This is the whole crux and linchpin of the case,” Gaughan said Thursday, according to reports. “If there was no tape, we wouldn’t have a case.” Earlier this week, both sides petitioned the judge to limit the viewing of the tape to jurors, attorneys, and the judge himself. Kelly has pleaded not guilty on 14 counts of child pornography. A date for his trial has not yet been set.
