Michel Gondry may never direct a K-Fed video, but when it comes to filming music clips, there are always some odd director-band pairings. Irvine Welsh, author of heroin-laden bestseller, Trainspotting, deals with themes much more controversial than those of Keane, but he and the piano-loving trio are joining forces.
Welsh, who also penned Filth and Porno, will direct the clip for Keane’s “Atlantic,” the first single off their upcoming album, Is It Any Wonder?
Of the collaboration, vocalist Tom Chaplin told NME.com: “We met up with Irvine in the studio as ‘Atlantic’ was coming together. We talked and felt he was the ideal person to put our song into pictures. He in turn felt that ‘Atlantic’ could prove the perfect soundscape for his directorial debut. The result is a dark artistic statement that adds a new dimension to the song.”
