Unknown actor Sam Riley will play the part of ill-fated Joy Division frontman Ian Curtis in the upcoming biopic Control, NME.com reports. As SPIN.com reported in December, famed video director Anton Corbijn is set to direct Control and the film is based on a memoir by Curtis’ widow, Deborah (read more). The part of Deborah will be played by Samantha Morton, who was nominated for a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her turn in Woody Allen’s Sweet and Lowdown. The remaining members of Joy Division, who reformed as New Order after Curtis’ death, will help supply songs for the Control soundtrack. No word yet as to when the film will be released.
