After announcing via their website earlier this week that their third album was almost through the mixing stages, the Vines have released the first single from said album, “Don’t Listen to the Radio.” The song, an upbeat number complete with hand-claps and a more subdued Craig Nicholls than on previous outings, is an ode to Luddites, with lines like “Don’t listen to the radio…I’ve got no radio.” According to the band’s website, the new album also includes a country ballad, somewhat of a departure for the Vines. The as-yet-untitled third album is slated for an April 4 release in the U.S. and an April 3 release in the rest of the world. It’s unclear yet whether the Vines will tour again, taking frontman Nicholls recent diagnosis of Asperger Syndrome into consideration.
