Dinosaur Jr. Films Live DVD in NYC Tonight

They’re not dinosaurs anymore: The recently reunited Dinosaur Jr. is planning to utilize 21st century technology to produce their first live DVD. The full-length DVD, featuring Dinosaur Jr.’s original line-up of J. Mascis, Lou Barlow, and Murph, will be filmed tonight and tomorrow at NYC’s Irving Plaza. It’s a family affair for Dino — singer J. Mascis’ brother-in-law, German filmmaker Philip Virus, is slated to direct. The notoriously feuding Mascis and Barlow ended 15 years of hostility this spring when they got back together to tour. No word yet on whether the trio will completely bury the hatchet and record new material. The as-yet-untitled live DVD is set for an early 2006 release.

Dinosaur Jr. tour dates:

12/2, New York, NY (Irving Plaza)
12/3, New York, NY (Irving Plaza)
12/4, Cambridge, MA (The Middle East)
