Modest Mouse’s Brock Helms New Imprint

This little Mouse isn’t quite so Modest anymore: MM frontman Isaac Brock has just launched a new record label, Glacial Palace, a subsidiary of his band’s major label home, Epic. Brock was previously employed as an A&R man for the independent label Sub Pop, famously signing such acts as Wolf Parade. His first move as leader of Glacial Palace was to sign Minnesota songwriter Mason Jennings. Prior to signing with Glacial Palace, Jennings released four records on the indie label Bar/None.

Jennings told the ‘fork that he has no problem signing with the man. “Isaac was the first person associated with a major label who I felt could relate to me as an artist and continue to let me make my music,” he said. “No one understands better than Modest Mouse how to make the jump to a major without losing any artistic integrity.” Look for Mason Jennings on Glacial Palace sometime in early ’06.
