Bangin’ Mash-ups Added to Amsterjam

Usually you think of a mash-up happening in someone’s dirty basement — a DJ/chemist mushing together Britney and obscure eighties complaint rock. But Amsterjam, a festival at New York’s Randalls Island on August 20, boasts live mash-ups including the Red Hot Chili Peppers with Snoop Dogg, and several others yet to be announced. Funk master Bootsy Collins is serving as the event’s curator and emcee. Other artists confirmed to play at Amsterjam are 311, Wyclef Jean, Fat Joe, Hector El Bambino, Antibalas, the Brought Low, Fishbone, The Giraffes, Gogol Bordello, Grandmaster Flash, Something for Rockets, Yerba Buena and Vic Thrill, and the latest addition is a pairing of smutty electronica queen Peaches and superstar electro rockers Garbage.
