Broken Social Scene producer Dave Newfeld was allegedly roughed up by New York policemen last week after purchasing marijuana in New York’s Washington Square Park before BSS’s Central Park performance last week, according to Pitchforkmedia.com. On stage at this past weekend’s Intonation event in Chicago, BSS’ Kevin Drew reportedly told the audience that his band was going to sue the NYPD. A representative for the band told SPIN.com, “Broken Social Scene is looking into their legal options as far as the incident is concerned. Their lawyer has advised them not to comment any further on the subject for the time being.”
