If "She's Expensive" didn't slink along so suavely on a skittering high-hat and burbling bass groove, if "Fernando Pando" didn't perfectly capture low-lit hedonism and morning-after regret, if every damn song didn't have an such a stylish chorus, The Virgins might draw some jealous sneers. But they do—so it doesn't.
