Snoop Dogg, ‘Doggumentary’ (Doggy Style/Priority)

He’s a mess of contradictions: a father, a youth football coach, a strip-club patron, and an ex-gangsta bold enough to rhyme “bikinis” with “no weenies” alongside Katy Perry. Snoop’s 11th album unevenly celebrates his all-over-the-map persona. “Toyz N Da Hood” is a cartoonish version of the G-funk he helped pioneer — dude even pairs “gin and juice” with “Mother Goose.” But when Snoop gets experimental with the Gorillaz on the interstellar “Sumthin Like This Nite,” he proves he can still push hip-hop’s boundaries. Regardless, his duet with Willie Nelson on “Superman” suggests a Vegas lounge act may be his next hustle.
