London jazzist Zara McFarlane possesses a powerful voice and a helluva ear for soulful songwriting — it’s no wonder, then, that she sounds incredible over an innovative dance beat. Her If You Knew Her album, out now on Brownswood Recordings, is a lovely listen unto itself, but we’ve been particular wowed by the remixes it’s spawned. Late last year, we shared Osunlade’s house-inspired reworking of “Angie La La,” and now we’ve got a revision of “Move” courtesy of English producer Atjazz. Heard below, the track ditches the original warm organic instrumentation and subs in looped orchestral flourishes, a bounding beat, chopped vocals, lively synth, and effects snippets. The end result is a shuffling sort of mushroom jazz, and it’ll appear on the July 14 “Move” single backed with new song “You’ll Get Me in Trouble.” Listen here:
