Yeasayer's already lengthy world tour just got a lot longer.
The Brooklyn-based band just added two months to their schedule, including a visit to Europe and 11 U.S. gigs in September and October. The band has been touring ceaselessly since the February release of their new album, Odd Blood, which SPIN called a "masterful mash-up of '80s synth pop and tribal-beat tickles."
SPIN contributing writer Chris Martins reviewed the opening date of the band's tour at Los Angeles' Natural History Museum. "Each member of the five-piece seemed responsible for his own small arsenal of instruments and equipment and if the effect was overwhelming, it was almost always in the best way," he wrote of the show, which rattled the bones of the dinosaur exhibits. "Yeasayer was in top form again -- bells and whistles pumping, its futuristic, genre-smudging psychedelia colliding against airless dioramas depicting a silent past."
SPIN profiled Yeasayer -- whose name was inspired by a friend's notebook -- in our March issue, chronicling the band's career arc from underground upstart to Billboard charting indie phenoms. Read it here.
