Ladytron Signs to Nettwerk, New LP Due In May
Liverpool's electro-pop quartet Ladytron have joined with Nettwerk Music Group to release the band's fourth full-length album and follow up to 2005's opus Witching Hour. Currently in Paris recording the yet-to-be titled LP alongside producer Vicarious Bliss (Justice, DJ Mehdi, Busy P) of Ed Banger Records, Ladytron hope to release the new set in May 2008.
"Ladytron is one of the coolest, most vital and cutting edge bands around right now. Each of their albums is more seductive than the last, and their live performance is electrifying," Nettwerk co-founder Mark Jowett said in a statement. "As a company, we are having the time of our lives with some amazing, energy-infused artists like Datarock and Felix da Housecat. It is an honor and a privilege to add Ladytron to that roster." Ladytron's Daniel Hunt added: "We came straight from our final shows in the U.S. to the studio in Paris to complete what we have been working on for the last year or so… the sessions are exciting, and we can't wait to get the new tracks out there."
BSS' Collett Details New Album 'Here'
Continuing forward as not just a member of the Broken Social Scene crew, but also as a prolific solo act, north-of-the-border rocker Jason Collett has unveiled details for Here's to Being Here, his fifth solo set slated to arrive Feb. 5 via none other than Arts&Crafts. The new collection, recorded in Toronto with producer Howie Beck, features guests like fellow BSS constituent and Apostle of Hustle principal Andrew Whiteman and Liam O'Neil of the Stills, among others. "This is very much a guitar record…" Collett said in a statement posted to Arts&Craft's website. "Recording in bigger spaces and live off the floor was the ideal I wanted to shoot for with this record. Recording this way allowed for spontaneous creations, which led to many wonderful little accidents."
To unveil tunes from the forthcoming LP, Collette and his touring band Paso Mino will open a handful of gigs for Feist, plus head deep into the homeland. Collette will also perform a string of gigs entitled "Jason Collett's Basement Revue" at Toronto's Dakota Tavern, set to showcase songs both old and new and feature surprise guests.
