Lots of people tweet -- but all that Twitters is not gold.

That's why you'll want to check out SPIN.com every Friday to see whose tweets we're reading this week -- then update your TweetDeck! (Obligatory Self-Promotion: ...while you're at it, be sure to follow @SPINmagazine!)

This week's winners:

  • Frightened Rabbit
    @FRabbits

    Why You Should Follow: These Scottish indie rockers are all about the wordplay on Twitter. Before a show in Paris, they tweeted, "Pre'paris'ions are going well for this evenings show. Liver and mash? Check! Wines? Check! Check shirt? Check!" After a show in Amsterdom, they wrote, "Well what a splendid show at Paradiso! Nothing can amster-dampen our spirits this evening! Now for some bampot behaviour..." They've even come up with puns for their favorite bands' names ("Neutral Milk-roll Hotel," "Scone-ic Youth"). When they're not getting pun-y with their tweets, they're campaigning to duet with Lady Gaga, watching questionable porn ("There is a chap pleasuring a panda on my TV... Hope I'm not being charged for this"), and generally enjoying life on the road ("Don't you love it when you're drinking in the back of a van/car/bus and the acceleration means you don't need to tip the bottle? Mmmm cider!").

    Best Tweet of the Week: "Baddy baddy bumdrops: our flight to Coachella is supposed to leave tomorrow & there's plane-thwarting volcanic ash all over the place."

  • Kimya Dawson
    @mrskimyadawson

    Why You Should Follow: Dawson – best known for being the female counterpart of Adam Green in the band the Moldy Peaches – is "a mama, a folk singer, and a little bit of a badass," according to her Twitter bio. She's also one of rock's most avid tweeters. Whether she's making suggestions for the upcoming Kurt Cobain biopic ("Joan Rivers should be Courtney"), giving the play-by-play of her Tiger Woods sex dreams, or writing about her adventures in motherhood ("3 year olds will get into medicine bottles that aren't out of reach no matter how many times you tell them not to. Glad we use homeopathics"), her tweets are just as quirky and unique as her music. Expect lots of rants about Comcast stealing her music for commercials and old friends demanding royalties from her songs, as well as plenty of interaction with fans and links to interesting YouTube videos and blogs (Lesbians Who Look Like Justin Bieber, anyone?).

    Best Tweet of the Week: "Is it tacky to retweet retweets of tweets I tweeted to @justinbieber? Maybe I need to take a nap."

  • Black Francis
    @MrBlackFrancis

    Why You Should Follow: Black Francis – or, "that guy from the Pixies," as he calls himself on Twitter – is a man of few words. But fans of his extensive body of work will enjoy following him anyway, just for the peek inside his head. He tweets his way through 105-degree bikram yoga classes, "freezing, lonely" photo shoots, rainy days listening to Thelonious Monk, and Grand Duchy recording sessions – and begs followers to support such important issues as "espresso in real cups." Though he says his wife and Grand Duchy collaborator Violet Clark thinks that Twitter is "the death of hope and human goodness," he's jumped on the bandwagon anyway – and even tweeted the track list for their 2009 album, Lovesick, before it was released to the public.

    Best Tweet of the Week:"I smell shoarma."
