LCD Soundsystem, the Magnetic Fields' Stephin Merritt, and Blondie's Debbie Harry, among others, cover Fran Ferdinand on a new Record Store Day release. Check out other specials planned for the big day, including releases from Jenny & Johnny, Blitzen Trapper, and Panda Bear. [Pitchfork]

Songwriter Rufus Wainwright and Leonard Cohen's daughter, Lorca, have welcomed the birth of a baby girl, Viva Katherine Wainwright Cohen. Wainwright, who is gay and in a relationship with theatre producer Jorn Weisbrodt, explained that Lorca was not a surrogate mother in a post to his blog: "She did not carry the child for someone else," he wrote. "Lorca Cohen is the mother of the baby and Rufus Wainwright is the father." [Rufuswainwright]
