  • New York City, the Strokes are back. Singer Julian Casablancas has announced that the quintet will play their first show in the Big Apple, and their first-ever concert at Madison Square Garden, on April 1. Tickets go on sale February 25. [Twitter]

  • Check out the music video for "Shell Games," the first single from Conor Oberst's eighth album as Bright Eyes, The People's Key, which dropped earlier this week. In the cinematic clip, Oberst and Co. rock out in a basement and in the snow around a backyard bonfire. [Guardian]

  • Neutral Milk Hotel's elusive songwriter Jeff Mangum has scheduled a summer and fall tour, set to kick off in Toronto in August. He will also curated England's All Tomorrow's Parties festival in December. [Pitchfork]

  • Brooklyn's eclectic songwriter whiz Sufjan Stevens has collaborated with French musician Gaspar Claus on a 30-minute collection of orchestral works. The tracks are wordless pieces with strings and electronics, and feature titles like "Alien Vs. Predator," "Invalid Skin," and "Romance Cave."[Twenty Four Bit]

  • To sate fans awaiting the arrival of his solo debut full-length Soul Punk, which was just pushed back to summer, former Fall Out Boy singer-guitarist Patrick Stump will release a six-song EP, called Truant Wave, on February 22. "I've put together songs I felt strongly about but didn't have place for within the narrative of Soul Punk," Stump said in a statement. "Truant Wave also presented a welcome opportunity for me to work with some of my gifted friends on my solo material." Alph-A-Bit and D.A. of Chester French, among others, guest on the EP. [Idolator]
