The man who died in the shootout involving rapper T.I. has been identified as Philant Johnson, the rapper's friend, personal assistant, and employee of T.I.'s Grand Hustle Records.
"This is a very sad day for everyone at Atlantic Records and Grand Hustle," Atlantic Records said in a statement, according to MTV News. "Philant Johnson was a part of our family and a true friend. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Johnson family, T.I., and everyone at Grand Hustle."
The other three victims were also members of T.I.'s entourage. Janice Gillespie, 22, is in stable condition at the University of Cincinnati Hospital, while T.I. security guard Ronal Hausley, 40, and Elijah Edwards, 31, have both been treated and released.
The four individuals sustained wounds during a shootout that took place at about 3:20 A.M. on Wednesday (May 3) following an after-party at the Cincinnati venue Club Ritz for T.I. and Yung Joc's performance earlier that evening.
Four men reportedly followed T.I.'s vans off the club's property and onto Interstate 75, one of the area's main roadways and the cite of the shootout. Early Wednesday morning, the southbound lanes of I-75 were closed so police could investigate the three-mile long crime scene.
