Scott Stapp Arrested on Assault Charges
Following a confrontation with his wife yesterday in Fla., Stapp is booked on assault charges, reduced today.
Scott Stapp, former frontman of radio-ruling rock outfit Creed, has added a misdemeanor assault charge to his record alongside his previous drunken driving arrest. According to Billboard.com, Stapp was arrested yesterday (May 20) at his Boca Raton, Fla. home and charged with aggravated assault with intent to commit a felony, following a conflict with his wife, former Miss New York Jaclyn Nesheiwat.
Today, the charge was reduced to a misdemeanor by Judge Cory J. Ciklin “because the allegation is that Stapp threw a bottle of Orangina at his wife, at her head, and missed and the bottle broke,” sheriff’s spokesman Paul Miller told Billboard.com. “Based on the circumstances, the defense attorney argued that was not a deadly weapon.” Stapp, currently behind bars, is scheduled to go free today on supervised conditions, which includes random drug and alcohol testing.
