To put it lightly, former New Order bassist Peter Hook doesn't have the friendliest relationship with his ex-bandmates. In the acknowledgements section of his 2012 memoir, Unknown Pleasures: Inside Joy Division, Hook swiped at his onetime comrades by writing "In memoriam, rest in peace . . . New Order," despite the fact that New Order are still very much active without him. Hook, who left the band in 2007, has also gone on record as saying he's "determined to fuck New Order over in any possible way."

At last he's found a way. Hook announced Friday (May 17) that he'll perform New Order's first two albums — 1981's Movement and 1983's Power, Corruption & Lies — in their entirety, plus singles and B-sides from that time period, during a North American tour with his current band, the Light. Several spring and summer dates are lined up overseas, but on September 10, Hook will arrive stateside to play Boston's Paradise Rock Club. Stops in New York City, Philadelphia, Chicago (Hook's doing a set of Joy Division material for this year's Riot Fest), Montreal, Toronto, Los Angeles, Vancouver, Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, and Denver, will follow through September 28.

Peter Hook and the Light first performed Movement and Power, Corruption & Lies during a pair of shows in England earlier this year. Those sets have since been released as a live album that's available for purchase and download here. Before those gigs, the 57-year-old frontman toured extensively while performing both of Joy Division's studio albums, 1979's Unknown Pleasures and 1980's Closer. When speaking to SPIN in 2010, Hook defended the controversial move by saying, "The criticism has been aimed at me, saying I'm cashing in on Joy Division and Ian Curtis... but it took 30 years to cash in. So does that count? Usually you cash in after waiting 30 minutes."
