  • Fight Club screenwriter Jim Uhls has signed on to write HBO's Year Zero, a miniseries about a dystopian future in which Christian fundamentalists run the U.S., based on Nine Inch Nails' album of the same name. The onscreen collaboration is the latest for NIN mastermind and project producer Trent Reznor, who won an Oscar this year for his score to director David Fincher's The Social Network.   • Cee Lo Green is leaving his supporting slot on Rihanna's Loud tour, citing scheduling conflicts with his commitment to NBC's The Voice. The Atlanta crooner's exit comes just one week after he got into a Twitter spat with the music editor of Minneapolis alt-weekly City Pages, who negatively reviewed his recent performance there.   • Chris Brown, Nicki Minaj, and Lil Wayne were big winners at The 2011 BET Awards this weekend. Meanwhile, Patti LaBelle received the Lifetime Achievement Award from Gladys Knight, and recently deceased artists such as Gil Scott-Heron, Clarence Clemons, and Nate Dogg were honored in a tribute performance featuring Snoop Dogg and Warren G.   • The Coen brothers (True Grit, The Big Lebowski) are working on a musical biopic loosely based on the life of Dave Van Ronk, the legendary '60s folk singer-songwriter. Sources say the movie will be partially adapted from the Greenwich Village star's post-humously published memoir The Mayor of MacDougal Street. [LA Times]

  • Dave Grohl said that during a recent Foo Fighters rehearsal he played Nirvana's hits with Krist Novoselic and second guitarist Pat Smear, for the first time in 17 years. "Krist is on bass, Pat's on guitar, I'm on drums," said Grohl. "Krist says, 'Fuck it, let's do 'Smells Like Teen Spirit.'"   • Michael Jackson's famous red and black Thriller jacket recently sold at a Beverly Hills auction for $1.8 million to Milton Verret, a commodities trader from Austin, Texas. The jacket is one of two Jackson wore during the filming of the 1983 music video, and will be sent on tour and used as a fundraising tool for children's charities. [AP]
