nas, illmatic reissue

Nas is taking a trip down memory lane as the Queens-bred rapper’s debut, Illmatic — one of the “three or four best hip-hop albums of all time” — receives a deluxe reissue today (December 10). Get On Down has assembled two box sets commemorating the landmark 1994 LP: a vinyl version with full lyric insert ($19.94) and a gold CD edition featuring remastered audio, which comes with a gold plaque and is housed in a “Cherrywood Trophy Box” ($34.94). Each package includes a 48-page full-color, hardcover book complete with additional artwork and liner notes from Jon Shecter, co-founder of The Source; a reproduction of the original ’94 press release for Illmatic; two promo photos; and a poster with the album’s full lyrics printed on back. A bundle collecting the vinyl and gold CD sets together is also available for $49.94. Life Is Good, indeed.
