Holograms have a flair for brutality. If that wasn’t clear from the Swedish outfit’s bruising brand of post-punk, the vicious cover art to last year’s Forever LP, or the death-centric music video for “Meditations,” then it should be from their newest video, a seven-minute short for Forever closer “Lay Us Down.” The just-released clip bookends the track with audio of religious chanting, set to intense, black-and-white imagery: a solar eclipse, wolves attacking each other, a tombstone, and more flash across the screen. After the intro fades away, the opening chords of “Lay Us Down” sink in and the actual video begins, starting with a shot of a man running for his life in an empty parking garage. And the piece doesn’t lighten up from there. Watch it above, and head over to iTunes to purchase Forever.
