INTERVIEWSWatch Ellie Goulding Take Flight With 'Anything Could Happen' on 'Kimmel'

by Kyle McGovern

English singer performed lead single off 2012's 'Halcyon'

Ellie Goulding was nowhere to be found in the video for "Summit," her collaboration with Grammy all-star Skrillex, but the English singer made her way onto television screens last night (February 12) via Jimmy Kimmel Live! Decked out in a fuzzy pink sweater and leather hot pants, the 26-year-old pop star brought the late-night house down with "Anything Could Happen," the lead single off her 2012 album, Halcyon. Supported by a thumping blend of bass, piano, and synths, Goulding's vocals soar over most of this three-and-a-half-minute performance. Near the end, the Lights singer dips into a hoarser range with no instrumentation behind her, making for a show-stopping bridge that impresses even further when her pitch suddenly rockets up with the help of clipped coo samples and audience handclaps.
