Decemberists Auction Off Memorabilia for Charity

By posting band gear on eBay, the Decemberists aid homeless youths.

In an effort to benefit a hometown charity, warm-hearted lit rockers the Decemberists have posted numerous band items for sale on eBay, Pitchfork.com reports. The proceeds from the items hitting the digital auction block, which include clothing, artwork, CDs, tour posters and instruments -- notably the B.C. Rich Warlock six-string played by guitarist Chris Funk during the Decemberists vs. Stephen Colbert guitar solo duel -- will benefit p:ear, a Portland, OR-based charity. p:ear strives to "build positive relationships with homeless and transitional youth through education, art, and recreation to affirm personal worth and create more meaningful and healthier lives," and the organization hopes to raise funds for purchasing a new home base in the city's downtown area.
