Hear Clear Plastic Masks’ Garage-Rock Scorcher ‘So Real’

The thing with clear plastic masks is they don’t really “mask” much of anything. Emerging band Clear Plastic Masks must’ve taken that into account. The Nashville-via-New York rock’n’rollers’ “So Real,” from their self-titled debut album, is scorching garage rock with nothing to hide: just pummeling percussion, desperate yowls that recall Jack White before he became Jack White, and a whole lot of scrappy guitar fuzz that should please Black Lips worshipers. Or, hell, Screamin’ Jay Hawkins fans. The limited-edition LP will be sold exclusively at the group’s upcoming dates, which you can catch below. As “So Real” puts it, “Call your mommy, call your friends, call your daddy.”
