Brian Eno and Underworld’s Karl Hyde Blast Off on Sax-y ‘The Satellites’

Brian Eno, Karl Hyde, "The Satellites," 'Someday World,' Underworld

“I dream the sound of cars / To drown the satellites,” Brian Eno sings at the end of “The Satellites,” the first song from his upcoming album with Underworld half Karl Hyde. That lyrical image should help you picture the music’s sound, with a moonlit ambience and motorik propulsion that conjure up a night drive on some interstellar Autobahn. It probably doesn’t help you imagine the smattering of saxophones or the buzzing electric guitar fills, but it all comes together on the track. Eno and Hyde’s Someday World is out May 5 via Warp Records, and “The Satellites” comes free if you pre-order your copy. Eno, who can also be heard lately on new music from Owen Pallett,  co-produces with Fred Gibson, who plays on the album with Roxy Music’s Andy Mackay, Eno’s daughter Darla Eno, Sinead O’Connor producer John Reynolds, and Georgia Gibson.
