  • Arcade Fire, Eminem, Cee Lo, and Katy Perry are all slated to perform at this year's Grammy Awards, airing February 13 on CBS. Lady Gaga has also been confirmed to perform, after the singer's backup dancer announced the news yesterday. More performers will be revealed soon. [Grammy.com]

  • The biopic on Queen's Freddie Mercury, starring Sacha Baron Cohen, will begin filming later this year, with an expected Fall 2011 release date. "[Screenwriter] Peter Morgan has delivered a first draft of the movie, which everyone is excited about, and Sacha Baron Cohen is chomping at the bit to get into the role," the band's Brian May and Roger Taylor said in a statement.   • Legendary director Francis Ford Coppola has hired Baltimore electronic artist Dan Deacon to score his next movie Twixt Now and Sunrise, due out later this year.

  • Bob Geldof will be the keynote speaker for this year's SXSW Music conference, where he will also perform songs from his latest album How to Compose Popular Songs That Will Sell. [SXSW]

  • A feature-length documentary on the life of the late punk rocker Jay Reatard will be released later this year, along with a Greatest Hits collection and a 7-inch featuring two previously unheard songs. [JayReatard's Official Site]

  • Perry Farrell has offered a first look at the new Jane's Addiction record, which will feature TV on the Radio's Dave Sitek on bass. "I want our songs to have a groove impact and hit you like an atom bomb," Farrell says. The singer also opened up about why Duff McKagan recently split from the group. "I know he didn't like the idea of electronics [in our music] at all. That was his complaint. We've got our gripes too, but what's the point?" [Rolling Stone]
