crush_DLX Walk a Lo-Fi Synth-Pop ‘Tightrope’ in New Track

crush_DLX

crush_DLX are the L.A.-based pairing of English singer/producer POP LEVI and Canadian model/singer Bunny Holiday, whose work together Ariel Pink fans might recall from last year’s Pink-featuring “My Pleasure.” The duo are back now with a new guest star in tow — Stephen Mallinder, founding member of post-punk (and proto-everything) electronic act Cabaret Voltaire — for “Tightrope,” advance track from crush_DLXs Micro Sex Tapes Collection 1 Mixtapes. The song rides an infectiously lo-fi synth-pop boogie, mostly drum loops and guitar shreds, with Mallinder’s pixelated robo-vocals intoning “Destination to the stars / Are you looking for some action?”

Simultaneously alienating and alluring, it’s definitely a track worthy of Voltaire’s prime. Stream it below, and check out MICRO SEX TAPES Collection 1 here.
