On Wednesday night, December 18, Miley Cyrus sat down with Barbara Walters for the broadcast journalist's annual special, The 10 Most Fascinating People of the Year, a list that for 2013 also included Kimye, Jennifer Lawrence, and Hilary Clinton. At the beginning of the segment on our beloved Bangerz-maker, the 84-year-old TV legend let's us know the score: "This year, Miley Cyrus got on the 'Wrecking Ball' and destroyed Hannah Montana." That's what we said. For now, at least, you can watch the interview above (if it disappears, we'll try to find a replacement). Therein, we see Cyrus speaking openly about ending her engagement to actor Liam Hemsworth, about her motivations behind getting naked pretty much all of the time, and on being judged by the public even if she keeps her clothes on ("I'm either boring, or I'm a slut.") Awesomely, Walters reruns some footage from her interview with Cyrus at 14, walking a bicycle. Also, mama Miley arrives at the 3:38 mark to wash her hands of all of the twerking. Asked if she, mother\/manager Tish Cyrus, encouraged some of her daughter's more outrageous behavior in 2013, she responded, "Absolutely not. I have to admit, there's times as a mom, I'm like, "Oh, what were you thinking ... This is what 20-year-olds do. She's just doing it in front of the world." Uncle Ben was wrong. With great power comes whatever-who-cares-anyway.
