Joanna Newsom has announced her first run of live dates since 2016. On a mini-tour she is brilliantly entitling "The String/Keys Incident," the singer-songwriter will play shows in Philadelphia, New York City, Chicago, and Milwaukee. (The String Cheese Incident have not given comment at this time). Newsom will be performing three nights of shows in both Chicago and NYC. She will perform completely solo at all dates. Tickets to the shows go on sale this Friday (April 5) at 10AM local time. Newsom's last album was 2015's Divers. She subsequently released an outtake from the record, "Make Hay," the following year. Last year, she released her first three albums on cassette for the first time. UPDATE 4/15: Newsom has extended her tour. Check out the full list of tour dates below. UPDATE 9/13: Joanna Newsom has cancelled her upcoming tour dates in Los Angeles, as Stereogum points out. Her longtime label Drag City announced the cancellation on Instagram, where they cited “unforeseen issues with the Hollywood Legion Theater” as the reason for the last-minute cancellation. "Bummer news, people: Due to unforeseen issues with the Hollywood Legion Theater, Joanna Newsom’s five shows at the venue in December have regrettably been canceled," the label wrote. "Joanna greatly shares in the disappointment of ticketholders, and the search for an appropriate new venue at which the shows can be rescheduled in the future will continue. All online ticket purchases will now be automatically refunded. Refunds for tickets purchased elsewhere are available at the place of purchase." Details remain sparse about the reason for the cancellation, but her other California dates in Carmel and San Francisco will apparently continue as planned.
