We’re approaching the release of her spoken-word album Violet Bent Backwards Over the Grass, which is slated to drop on Sept. 29, but Del Rey shared an update on Chemtrails Over the Country Club that she said was due out this month.

In an Instagram post from the “very contained set, Del Rey said that she’s in the process of filming a video for the title track. Del Rey also said that before that song is available, she will be releasing another song titled “Let Me Love You Like a Woman.”

“I love the record, and I love you guys, and I can’t wait to see you soon. Probably in 2030,” she said in the clip. “Just kidding. See you in 2029.”

Del Rey also added that the album would be coming “soon.”

Morillo, the founder of Subliminal Records, is best known for his 1993 hit “I Like to Move It,” which was released under the Reel 2 Real moniker and featured the Mad Stuntman. The song was one of the first big songs from the ’90s house boom and it made him one of the world’s first international superstar DJs. “I Like to Move It” also had a resurgence in the 2000s with its inclusion in Madagascar.

In December, Morillo was accused of sexual battery but had denied the accusations. However, after a rape kit test tested positive for his DNA, Morillo turned himself in to police last month. Morillo was scheduled for a court hearing this Friday (Sept. 4).

Over the years, Morillo continued to release a number of singles, EPs and remixes, with the final being 2019’s “Fifth Element.”

Sticking to its postponed dates of Sept. 25-26, Desert Stars founder Tommy Dietrick says the show will go on after pushing back from its original spring dates in March. Despite being a boutique festival in the desert with a cap of 500 people, the festival that’s survived for 12 years in the small town of Joshua Tree was not allowed to move forward due to COVID-19 restrictions.

“It was a risk to move it to fall and the closer we got with all the indications that things weren’t getting any better, it was inevitable that we were gonna have to pivot,” Dietrick said. “It’s just not worth the risk so a couple months ago we started preparing all the bands by telling them this is probably going to be digital which is what all the events are doing so all the bands did their part to film as best they could.”

The bands on the bill have begun video recording their performances in their various hometowns across the world. “Some filmed sets in their rehearsal in a studio or a garage, Mercury Rev filmed in a theater with no audience,” Dietrick said. “We still have our show we just don’t have a venue.”

For the last two years, the festival was hosted at The Desert Stars Outdoor Theater in downtown Joshua Tree. Plans to eventually host more performances at Skylab, the festival’s own professional recording studio in Joshua Tree, are still developing.

The record is dedicated to his cat Maya, who recently died. The guitarist says in a statement, “Maya was with me as I made music for 15 years, so I wanted to name it after her. She loved music, and with such a personal title, it didn’t seem right to call myself Trickfinger, somehow, so it’s by John Frusciante.”

Maya is inspired by his favorite music: ’91 to’96 UK breakbeat hardcore and jungle.

Frusciante left the Chili Peppers following the group’s 2006’s double Stadium Arcadium album. When he rejoined in December 2019 the guitarist replaced Josh Klinghoffer.

In a series of tweets, Byrne said that a journalist recently pointed out his wearing of Blackface as he portrayed several characters in the promo video. He said he’d forgotten about the video until it was brought to his attention.

“To watch myself in the various characters, including Black- and brownface, I acknowledge it was a major mistake in judgement that showed a lack of real understanding. It’s like looking in a mirror and seeing someone else—you’re not, or were not, the person you thought you were,” Byrne said.

He pointed out in another tweet that at the end of his American Utopia show he says that he needs to change as well. A filmed version of that show is heading to HBO Max in October and is directed by Spike Lee. You can see the teaser trailer for it here.  On Feb. 29 of this year, Byrne also appeared on Saturday Night Live for the first time in over 30 years to promote the Broadway performance.

SPIN has confirmed that the trouble-plagued festival will be the focus of a Netflix docuseries that will chronicle the highs and lows of the event that saw Rage Against the Machine, The Offspring, Korn, Metallica and Willie Nelson among the more than 90 bands to perform at the three-day event.

No release date has been announced.

The fest was marred by violence, in particular, during the Saturday night performance by Limp Bizkit; they included fans tearing plywood from the walls during the song “Break Stuff.” Sexual assaults were also reported. During Red Hot Chili Peppers’ set, the final one of the weekend. Candles from the stage production were used by the audience members to set fires to sections of the fence erected to keep non-paying attendees out. Looting erupted, resulting in dozens of arrests and thousands injured.

The as-yet-untitled Woodstock ’99 series is being produced by UK company Raw, which did the documentary Don’t F**k with Cats. It will have unseen archival footage and insider interviews.

Surrounded by candles and her masked band, Cyrus brought a jazzy vibe to the pop track that was almost Amy Winehouse-esque. And unlike Eilish’s light and airy vocals, Cyrus brings some grit and improvised vocals runs to her version of the tune.

She also performed “Midnight Sky,” which she performed at the MTV VMAs a couple of days previously. Cyrus also did “Slide Away,” which she brought to the same awards show last year.

While it seems that Cyrus is ready to come back with more live-streamed or filmed performances, she did previously perform a couple of times in 2020. She was the musical guest on Saturday Night Live’s second edition of at-home episodes in April. She also covered the Beatles’ “Help!” at Global Goal in June.

Now, Master P is offering an alternative to those products.

The No Limit entrepreneur is creating his own brand of Louisiana seasoned rice, beans, grits and pancake mix, aptly titled Uncle P’s. The brand actually launched in March but Master P is doing the press rounds now.

“If they made billions of dollars off Aunt Jemima and Uncle Ben, imagine how much we’ll make to give back to our own community. It’ll be us helping us without having to wait for the government. We can actually change the world,” the rapper told CNN.

“Right now we’re burning down our blocks and our communities while protesting injustice, but if we are able to own products and put money back in our community, we could buy those blocks back instead of burning them down,” he continued.

P also told the news network that he plans on giving a portion of the proceeds from his new venture to help develop real estate in Black neighborhoods.

They definitely enlisted some heavy hitters. George Clinton will be featured on both “When the Grid Goes Down” and “Grid,” which also brings in Cypress Hill. Mike D and Ad-Rock of the Beastie Boys and Run-DMC will be on “Public Enemy Number Won,” while Ice-T and PMD lent their voices to “Smash the Crowd.”

Public Enemy previously released their collab with DJ Premier, “State of the Union (STFU),” and “Fight the Power: Remix 2020,” where they share the mic with Nas, Rapsody, Black Thought, Jahi and YG, while Questlove takes on the turntables. The updated version of “Fight the Power” premiered on this year’s BET Awards.

“This pandemic and so many other challenges have revealed how essential family farmers and ranchers are to the future of our planet,” Farm Aid founder Willie Nelson said in a statement. “Farm Aid 2020 is going to give the whole country a chance to learn about the important work of farmers and how they’re contributing to our well-being, beyond bringing us good food.”

Matthews, who is a Farm Aid board member, talked about the importance of the farming community, emphasizing that their voices should be heard.

“So being invited to join the board,” Matthews said on Good Morning America, “was really exciting because I do that there… the heart of everything that human beings have is sort of farming. But it seems all too often that the farmers are the people that are forgotten or at least they are voiceless and their struggles remain very often unheard.”

He continued, “Now is the time when farm workers and farmers are struggling in ways more than anybody again because of the crisis. But I think what made me want to be part of it was the idea that we could give a voice to the struggles of the working family farmers and what they go through and shine a light on what greatness they bring us, the food they bring us. But also that they struggle, and they don’t often get heard.”
