Watch: Carney Cover Queen

carny-vid.jpg

Last month, brothers Reeve and Zane Carney of the L.A.-based blues rock band Carney dropped by SPIN’s backstage tent at Lollapalooza and gave us a stripped down, quick-fire version of Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody,” skipping over the epic guitar solos and opera to focus on Freddie Mercury’s somber lyrics.

Reeve takes lead vocals on the track, singing with the same raw emotion as on the band’s originals — check out the Carney brothers performing the band’s song “Testify” backstage at Lolla here.

Carney’s vid is the latest in SPIN’s series of Lollapalooza covers. Check out Amazing Baby covering the dBs, thenewno2 covering Thom Yorke, and Kevin Devine covering the Smiths.
