See Jack White Jam With the Kills Until the Plug Gets Pulled

Jack White The Kills Dublin Plug Pulled Goodnight Irene

On his way to Glastonbury this weekend, Jack White made a stop at Dublin’s Royal Hospital Kilmainham for a headlining show with the Kills. Obviously the two acts are well acquainted, as White has worked for some time with Kills frontwoman Alison Mosshart in their Dead Weather project, and so they got to flaunt it a bit onstage.

As Consequence of Sound reports, Mosshart joined the vinyl-sales-record-breaking rock’n’roll maestro during his set for “Love Interruption,” swigging some champagne from the bottle before leaving the stage with a kiss. Later, she came up again with Kills bandmate Jamie Hince for the folk standard White’s been rocking lately, “Goodnight, Irene,” during which the PA system was cut due to curfew and the band finished without the venue speakers’ help.

“Okay, listen up, you’ve got to quiet down! You’ve got to quiet down, the PA’s gone,” White belted out to the audience, leading the crowd through the remaining lyrics. “Stop your ramblin’, stop your gamblin’, stop staying out late at night. Go home to your wife and children, sit down by the fireside bright” he hollered, entering into the final refrain. “Irene, goodnight, Irene goodnight, goodnight Irene, goodnight Irene, I’ll see you in my dreams.”

Watching fan video above, the moment seems pretty magical. Far from the worst thing that could go wrong, and White handled it like a champ anyhow, naturally. His set also included a medley of the Stooges cover “I Wanna Be Your Dog,” the White Stripes “Fell in Love With a Girl,” and Beck’s “Where It’s At,” as well as plenty of old hits he doesn’t mind hearing everywhere
