A distorted, Pixies-esque single from Drug Church‘s sophomore EP, Swell, “But Does It Work?” is a rough and rowdy confessional accompanied by a rotating panorama video featuring the band’s bedroom-esque rehearsal space. Tumbling with suburban imagery of Subarus and spruces, the video has two ambigious figures (one masked) wandering around an desolate playground, while a merry-go-round backs up spinning visuals that could symbolize the Albany boys’ pessimistic perspective on romance. The fatalistic lyrics also suggest as much: “Man and woman, nothing works. I tried man and man, still, didn’t work.”
