Details about Frank Ocean’s alleged parking-lot brawl with Chris Brown continue to emerge 24 hours later. While reps from both sides have pointed the finger at one other, the Los Angeles Police Department has reportedly placed the blame on Brown. An LAPD spokesperson tells the New York Post that Ocean will press charges against Rihanna’s on-again, off-again boyfriend, who is rumored to join her onstage at the Grammy Awards on February 10.
Brown is still on probation for charges stemming from his 2009 assault of Rihanna on the eve of the Grammys, and another misdemeanor charge would likely put the kibosh on any more Grammys stage time for the hip-hop singer. His 2009 appearance on the awards show was canceled, but producers invited him back in 2012 where he turned in not one, but two hackles-raising performances and won Best R&B Album. This year his Fortune is nominated for Best Urban Contemporary Album. In a drastic move, the Grammys committee could disinvite Brown altogether.
Ocean hasn’t been officially confirmed to perform at the Grammys, but the six-time nominee indicated that was the plan, at least, tweeting Monday (January 28): “cut my finger now I can’t play w two hands at the grammys.”
The channel ORANGE singer has kept relatively quiet since the initial incident, but Brown responded in Chris Brown kind: On Tuesday, he posted a photo of a painting of Jesus to his Instagram, explaining: “Painting the way I feel today. Focus on what matters.”
