The sister-trio Haim has revamped Adam Sandler’s iconic holiday ode “The Chanukah Song” as a more fitting version to be played in 2021. The updated track mentions modern Jewish celebrities, and the trio had so much fun during the performance that they even hint at a possible, upcoming Haim tour.

Haim replaces Sandler’s chosen famed Jewish names with those of Haim collaborator Paul Thomas Anderson’s wife Maya Rudolph, Japanese Breakfast, the Dessner brothers, Aaron and Bryce, Haim collaborator Ezra Koenig’s partner Rashida and her sister, Kidada, Schitt’s Creek creators Eugene and Dan Levy, pop superstar Doja Cat, young movie actor Timothee Chalamet. Further fitting, they reference the Omicron variant and the late Stephen Sondheim.

One-third of Haim, Alana, stars in Anderson’s newest film, Licorice Pizza, which was released in theaters last month. Its soundtrack is pretty rad, featuring the likes of David Bowie, Nina Simone, Sonny & Cher, Donovan, Wings, and more.
