Death Cab for Cutie frontman Ben Gibbard collaborated with Jenny Lewis on his debut album as the Postal Service back in 2003. Though they never released a proper followup, the band put out a 10th anniversary deluxe edition of the album in 2013, which came with a second disc of bonus tracks and remixes. The album was soon followed by a series of reunion tour dates, some of which included Jenny Lewis.
Death Cab for Cutie is currently on tour throughout North America, and at their recent dates in Portland, Maine and Shelburne, Vermont, the group brought out Jenny Lewis to play the Postal Service classic “Nothing Better,” as Uproxx points out. Sadly, electronic beatsmith Jimmy Tamborello wasn’t present for the show, but the Death Cab rendition still sounds pretty good with live drums.
Death Cab for Cutie’s latest album Thank You For Today was released in August 2018 featuring singles “Gold Rush,” “I Dreamt We Spoke Again,” and “Autumn Love.” Lewis released her latest album On the Line in March. Watch her perform with Death Cab for Cutie below.
