James Blake has released a twitchy new single and video titled “If The Car Besides You Moves Ahead.” The track features mellow darkwave synths and Blake sampling his own pitched-up voice in stuttering gasps that never quite settle into a steady rhythm. The video is more of a visualizer, cycling through moody close-ups of a black mustang speeding through a rainy cityscape at night, smothered by streaks of light in motion. It’s Blake’s first solo single since his 2016 album The Colour in Everything. The singer recently featured on the Black Panther soundtrack tune “King’s Dead” with Kendrick Lamar, Jay Rock, and Future. Check out the new song below.
