Before beginning their performance in Portland, Oregon last night, Coldplay held a moment of silence fort the late Tom Petty. The band then invited R.E.M.’s Peter Buck onstage for a heartfelt cover of Petty’s iconic “Free Fallin’.” Dozens of musicians have paid homage in the wake of Petty’s passing yesterday.
