Shania Twain’s “Life’s About to Get Good,” a comeback single of sorts, came out last month, along with the announcement of the country-pop star’s fifth studio album Now. It’s a pleasant-enough, typical Twain country-pop anthem, and today it’s gotten the video treatment.
Unfortunately, Shania’s video looks bit a like an ad for heartburn medication or something, featuring flowing garments blowing in the beach breeze, seemingly signaling a new spiritual awakening at the cusp of middle age. The basic conceit is: Shania takes a spam-mail pamphlet’s advice and gets away from the hustle and bustle. Then there’s a whole confusing thread with ‘50-attired maids and bellhops, who eventually join Shania in a group dance party on top of a palatial seaside mansion.
