Fall Out Boy have released “Champion,” the first single off their forthcoming album M A N I A. The song is about the uprising of an underdog—a familiar theme for the band—though this time it is as explicit as ever: “I’m a champion,” Patrick Stump sings. “Of the people who don’t believe in champions.” The production on the song is sharply contemporary, much in the same way as “Young and Menace,” the first song released from the album, but “Champion” is a straight-forward rock song without dubstep drops or Britney Spears interpolations. For better or worse, that is.
