This Is the Correct Way to Treat Betsy DeVos

Betsy DeVos is a Secretary of Education who has disdain for the public education system, and has spent much of her professional life trying to dismantle it bit by bit. That she now oversees our national public school system is sick and paradoxical, so much so that her nomination was contested more fervently than the racist who was up for Attorney General.

Immediately, DeVos is being tasked with attempting to convince public school administrators, teachers, and students that she doesn’t actually want them to see their ways of life eradicated. Today, she was scheduled to make an appearance at Jefferson Middle School in Washington D.C., but it didn’t go as planned:

Though DeVos hurried back to her SUV, which was temporarily blocked by the protestors, she was able to eventually make it into the school.

Betsy DeVos should be jeered and heckled in public, especially when she’s just showing up to public schools for propaganda photo ops. DeVos looks a little taken aback in the video, but that’s the territory she willingly accepted when she gave up an easy life of being insanely rich for a position in public policy where she, at least in part, controls the future of America.

If she wants to take a wrecking ball to the public school system, she should at least have to break through a wall first.
