It appears Donald Trump’s transition team has secured some slightly better musical acts for the presidential inauguration festivities. Country artist Toby Keith, once-popular rock band 3 Doors Down, and singer and Dreamgirls actress Jennifer Holliday have agreed to perform, as the inaugural committee announced today. The concert takes place at the Lincoln Memorial on January 19, and is called “The Make America Great Again! Welcome Celebration.”
Trump already locked in 16-year-old singer Jackie Evancho and “Save a Horse (Ride a Cowboy)” country duo Big & Rich. As reported, the committee has had trouble finding recognizable artists to play the inauguration.
Keith was once registered as a Democrat and had kind words to say about Bernie Sanders in 2015, but it appears he’s come around to Trumpism. 3 Doors Down played the GOP convention back in 2012.
In the words of Dixie Chicks manager Simon Renshaw: “If anyone does do it [play the Trump inauguration], I hope that the check that they get is in the nine figures. Because it’s probably the last check they’re ever going to get.”
Update: Holliday’s publicist says she hasn’t actually said yes.
