Iconic former Letterman bandleader Paul Shaffer is releasing a star-studded, self-titled covers album with The World’s Most Dangerous Band on March 17 (the features include Bill Murray, Shaggy, Dion, and Darius Rucker). Today, he’s put out the first single toward that album: a tribute to David Bowie featuring Jenny Lewis, emulating the late rock star’s Pin Ups cover of teen-pop band the McCoys’ 1965 single “Sorrow.” (For reference, The McCoys’ biggest claim to fame is “Hang On Sloopy.”) The song was also a hit for UK band The Merseys.
