Video: Tegan and Sara – “Dying to Know”

Befitting the ’80s nostalgic imbued in the sounds on their newest album Love You to Death, Calgary duo Tegan and Sara have released a new clip for their song “Dying to Know,” which parodies the original Miami Vice TV show. (There’s even an exact facsimile of the show’s famous title font.) Tegan and Sara Quin play suit-clad, convertible-cruising, beach-lounging cool cats in the vein of former Vice protagonists Crockett and Tubbs. Tegan explained the inspiration to Billboard, who premiered the video:

A few months ago I was watching a TV show about the ’80s, and a scene from Miami Vice with Don Johnson and Philip Michael Thomas came on. They were talking specifically about the episode in which they used the entire Phil Collins song ‘In the Air Tonight,’ almost as if it were a music video.

The catch? They are actually puppets! Classic switch-up. The dolls were designed by Eleni Creative, and the video was directed by Nathan Boey. Watch the clip—now the ninth they have made for songs on Love You to Death—below.
