In the eleventh hour, 2016 has given us a Taylor Swift and Zayn Malik duet for the Fifty Shades Darker soundtrack. “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever” is a monogenre pop/R&B/EDM-lite blowout whose only memorable hook is a variety of millennial whoop. Was Lana Del Rey busy?

ZAYN loves nothing more than singing about sex, but for Swift, this passes for edgy. It’s a duet with her ex-boyfriend Harry Styles’s ex-One Direction bandmate, it straight-up proposes that death is preferable to loneliness, and it’s from the BDSM movie a huge portion of Swift’s fanbase isn’t old enough to watch.

“I Don’t Wanna Live Forever” is so far only available to stream in full on Apple Music (as you’ll recall, Swift doesn’t do Spotify). Listen below.
