You know you’re a Toronto pop star when you overstuff your album to pimp streaming numbers. Following in Drake and Tory Lanez‘s footsteps, the Weeknd stretched Starboy to an unnecessarily long 18 tracks, reckoning that a dragging experience for the listener equals more album equivalent units for maximum chart success.

The strategy worked: Starboy debuted at No. 1 with 348,000 equivalent album units, 209,000 from traditional album sales. Billboard also reports that the streaming numbers has pushed every song from Starboy into the Hot 100. Even the short Lana Del Rey interlude secured a spot.

Starboy‘s title track slides up to No. 2 this week as Rae Sremmurd’s opus “Black Beatles” holds the top spot for the fourth straight week. Look at Starboy‘s chart entries below.
