Last night, writer Shantel Pass posted a flyer and note on Saint Heron, the site run by Solange’s Saint Records, advertising open auditions for musicians in the New Orleans area to be a part of her backing band. The note from the singer/songwriter’s camp reads:

Calling all musicians in New Orleans and the surrounding areas! We’re in search of vocalists, guitarists and keyboardists between the ages of 18 – 35 for our very own, Solange. Right here in New Orleans, we’re holding auditions for talented instrumentalists and singers to become part of the musical team that helps Solo bring the magic to her fans. Details for in-person auditions will be disclosed to those who are selected from the initial submission process. If you believe you have what it takes, email a 3 minute video to [email protected]. We look forward to hearing from you!

Solange, through Saint Records and Saint Heron, has traditionally been a proponent of offering new, talented, and undiscovered artists a platform. Her September album A Seat at the Table demonstrated her desire to work intimately with a close-knit group of trusted collaborators; for more evidence of this, watch the short making-of doc she released in October below.

Do you have what it takes to help Solange deliver the (muted, poignant) funk? Shoot a video of yourself shredding and find out.
